 Curator: Carlos Gollonet Sala Rekalde is pleased to host the exhibition of the photographer John Gutmann. This exhibition is the first retrospective view to be organised around the important work of the photographer, by the Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona and Fundación MAPFRE. More than a hundred photographs at Sala Rekalde in Bilbao show the work of John Gutmann (1905-1998), one of the great 20th century masters of American photography. The show revolves around a series of fundamental themes that encapsulate Gutmann’s interest in the American lifestyle and the search for the most expressive moment and the least likely angle. That is where the originality of his work lies.

XABIROI, KOMIKI-POZOI!
KMK. REKALDE-ORTZADAR KOMIKI LEHIAKETA
November 08th, 2011 - January 08th, 2012XABIROI is a comic-book created in June 2005 by the Federation of Ikastolas [Basque-language schools]. XABIROI publishes three issues plus a compilation every year, and has become a major benchmark for Basque comic books. Along with the exhibition, the selected works from the KMK. Rekalde-Ortzadar comic contest will be displayed.

Re-member? Art and Memory workshop
Re-member? An Art and Memory workshop. We'll associate John Gutmann´s artistic work with everyday memory through the vital experiences of the elders. Led by the educator Raquel Olalla we'll discover new tools to improve our everyday memory. AIMED TO elder people over 60, no matter gender or academic formation. Every monday through november and december, from 18:00 till 19:30, booking required.

FAMILY WORKSHOP. Irudistorioak! 4 to 11 year olds accompanied by one or two adults. 3rd december at 11:00h. We'll celebrate euskararen eguna with an ilustration workshop conducted by Pernan Goñi. Etor zaitez eta euskeraz mintzatu Rekalde Aretoan!
